Cottage Collectibles by Gaz.  This is Morris.  He is a retired piece.  Grey colored plush fur, grey felt inner ears and paw pads   Jointed legs, hand embroidered nose, embroidery floss whickers, child safety eyes.  Morris wears a knitted scarf that is blue, white, green and purple in color.  Morris measures 8 inches long and is priced at $16.00 plus tax.

 
















 Cottage Collectibles by Ganz.  This is Margo.  A light brown plush fur, child safety eyes, fully jointed, flesh colored felt foot pads.  Margo wears a "plaid-ish" dress that is green, blue, red and crème.  The collar and apron is crème colored and a heart patch on the apron.  Margo wears matching bow.  Knickers match dress and have an elastic waist.  Margo measures 19 inches long and is priced at $50.00 plus tax.

Cottage Collectibles by Ganz.  This is Frankie and Froggy.  Frankie is a chocolate colored plush fur, child safety eyes, hand embroidered nose, a knit  paw pads that match the main color of the plush and fully jointed.  Frankie has a lighter plush fur muzzle and belly.  Frankie measures 14 inches long.

Froggy is a dark green plush fur, an orange colored knit lower jaw and belly, child safety eyes, fully jointed, measures six inches long and wears a knit pair of shorts to which a strap is attached so Frankie can carry Froggy.  The set sells for $45.00 plus tax

Periwinkle wears a lace shawl, "pearl" necklace, a russet colored "silk" hat that is trimmed with a green "silk" hat band, blue silk rose with flowers.  Periwinkle measures 10 inches long and sells for $35.00 plus tax.

The Ganz Cottage.  First edition.  This is Raggy.  Limited to 1,080 pieces.  Tan colored plush fur, fully jointed, child safety eyes, hand embroidered nose, trimmed muzzle above the nose.  Raggy wears a chocolate colored felt hat that is trimmed with three buttons, a blue a, green and black hat band.  Raggy also wears a neckerchief that matches the hat band.  He has a heart shaped felt patch sewn unto his chest.

Raggy measures 16 inches long and is priced at $35.00 plus tax.

Cottage Collectibles by Ganz.  This is Harry Limited Edition # 0951. of 3000  light brown plush fur, flesh colored foot pads. hand embroidered nose, child safety eyes and fully jointed.  Harry wears a four colored knitted sweater--- green, yellow, blue, and  raspberry.

Cottage Collectibles this is William, Limited Edition 862 of 3000.  Fully jointed, child safety eyes, hand embroidered nose, tan felt foot pads, cinnamon colored plush fur.  William  wears a knitted sweater that is blue, brown and grey.  William measures 13 inches tall and sells $45.00 plus tax.

The Ganz Cottage.  This is Furry Potter. Sand colored plush fur, fully jointed, child safety eyes, a crème colored muzzle and belly, crème colored velour paw pads, hand embroidered nose.

Furry Potter wears a gren and crème gingham apron that has a red and crème colored gingham pocket, which hold a metal shovel with a wood handle.

He holds in his hand a terracotta colored felt flower pot that holds a brown teddy bear with white polka dots, glass seed bead eyes, hand embroidered nose and a sunflower collar.  11 inches tall, while the potted teddy measures 3.5 inches tall.  Priced at $35.00 plus tax for the set.

  Cottage Collectibles by Ganz deigned by Mary Holstead.  This is Fritz, measuring 15 inches tall.  Fully jointed, child safety eyes and a light brown plush fur.  Fritz has a crème colored muzzle with hand embroidered nose and 'eye lids'  His hands match the color of his muzzle.  He wears a black wool felt hat trimmed with a green colored corduroy hat band that is trimmed with three buttons.

 

Fritz wears a green and black plaid flannel panats that have two cotton patches sewn on.  Suspenders are blue corduroy with red button. and flower accent that has a smiley face in the center.  His shoes are red plush fur and have wool felt soles.  Fritz also wears a polka dot bow tie. In his left hand he holds a ball that is cotton and colored red, yellow and blue.  In his right hand he holds a bear.

Celebrating 17 years in business

Today marks 17 wonderful years in business. I can't hardly believe that it has been that many years. Where does the time go?

 I started out in North Canton at the Baker's Dozen Mini-Mall on South Main in 1997.  Maybe some of you remember that year and a half I was there?  That beginning year, the biggest hurdle was people discovering the shop and what I was doing. Incredible customers have always been the backbone and life-blood of this business, and for that I am deeply and forever thankful.

From the Baker's Dozen Mini-Mall  I moved in  down by Logan's Sporting Goods, also on South Main.  Just a few block down the street. During this time I also running a space on Butterbridge Road at the old Blue Craft Barn. The Logan location closed, and I then occupied the lower level of the Blue Craft Barn space.

When the Butterbridge space closed, I moved to Wilmot and was there a year and half. A barn space filled with antiques before reaching my third floor space.  Thank heavens I'm not there now as I don't believe--- as I grow older--- I could do those stairs.

At the same time I was in Wilmot I ran a Cherry Street location. That of course is in Canal Fulton and the space was behind The Mercantile. The Mercantile if you remember was ran by Rochelle Rossi. Those earliest years I carried so many brands of teddy bears I still wonder how I kept it all straight. 

Some of those earlier years I carried brands that are no longer available today.  Such as Annette Funicello, Knickerbocker, Cottage Collectibles, and Effanbee Bears those bears that are now only available on E-bay.  Who would have ever guessed that some of that stock has risen, and some of it has not.  All you need to do is take a look on E-bay and discover that it is such a wide price range.

The owners of the Wilmot Antique Barn decided to close, this current building became available.  Everything came here in 1999. This has been a permanent home for the business.  No more moving, no more starting over and I cherish being here.

In all those years many customers have been so loyal in following me to all of those locations and continue to be loyal and faithful.  Customers from years ago and even the "brand new" ones who walk in my door today--- in many instances have become extended family, which I am extremely happy to have.  For it is the customers who truly make this business what it is.

Events have played a part in this location from Linda Fulmer who operated Bebe Bears.  Bebe Bears, unfortunately is now no longer making bears. Then there was Cindy Maguire who operated China Cupboard-- and is still in business.  Leann Snyder who operated Busser Bears which is no longer in  business.    Last September brought Felicia Hymer the "Bear Scout" and countless artesian bears to Canal Fulton for a one day super event.

Steiff Events have been so much fun with Dick Franz (the Steiff USA Archivist) here over the years. I've enjoyed showing the Steiff line twice a year.  I need to thank Cherie Baer Graham who has served as the Certified Steiff Repair/Restorer for years and the Steiff Company for their giveaway door prizes which make hose events so popular with collectors.

The future holds a special place in my heart, in large part because of the efforts of Charlie Dale, who is attempting to get my presence more internet and Facebook focused and is helping me with this blog, which you have been reading.  Future plans include my being on Twitter!
